Originality and Anti Plagiarism Guidelines

The Journal of Law and Social Studies (JLSS) is unwavering in its commitment to upholding the most stringent standards of academic integrity and ethical publishing. We place paramount importance on the originality and authenticity of the content published in our journal. To ensure these standards are met, we have established comprehensive policies regarding plagiarism and ethical guidelines for authors. Authors submitting their manuscripts to JLSS are expected to adhere to the following principles:

  1. Manuscript Uniqueness:

Manuscripts submitted to JLSS must be entirely original and should not have been published or submitted for publication elsewhere. This policy ensures that the content we present is fresh, unique, and free from duplication.

  1. Similarity Index:

A critical aspect of our antiplagiarism measures is the similarity index, as determined by plagiarism detection software. It should not exceed 19%, which includes instances of self-plagiarism. We aim to maintain the integrity of the journal by preventing excessive similarities with other sources. Furthermore, the similarity from a single source should not surpass 2% of the manuscript. This criterion encourages authors to avoid excessive reliance on a single source or reproducing content without proper citation.

  1. Originality and Copyright:

Manuscripts submitted to JLSS must not contain illicit material and should not infringe upon existing copyrights without obtaining necessary permissions from copyright holders.

  1. Use of Names and Conflict of Interest:

Authors should have proper consent for using the names of individuals and organizations mentioned in their manuscripts. Any potential conflict of interest relevant to the research or publication must be explicitly disclosed in the manuscript. This includes acknowledging financial or logistical support from third parties in the paper’s acknowledgement section. Transparency regarding conflicts of interest is crucial for maintaining research credibility.

  1. Author Contributions:

Each author’s contribution to the manuscript should be clearly outlined within the paper. This practice ensures fairness and acknowledges the individual contributions of authors to the research.

  1. Permissions for Material Usage:

Authors are required to obtain necessary permissions from the rightful holders of any material used in their manuscript, including photographs, diagrams, and tables that are not owned by the author. These permissions should cover the reproduction of this material in the manuscript, media, and any communication through third parties.

  1. Plagiarism:

JLSS underscores that borrowing ideas or work from others without proper attribution is unfair and dishonest. Authors must refrain from copying even a single sentence from another source, whether external works or their own previously published material, without providing adequate citation. Plagiarism, in any form, is strictly prohibited.

  1. Editorial Authority:

Our editorial board reserves the right to reject the review process of a submitted manuscript if any degree of plagiarism, whether minor or major, is identified. In cases of significant plagiarism, the editorial board may decide to cancel the publication of the manuscript, particularly if such conduct is reported or complained about by the victim(s) of plagiarism.

These policies and ethical guidelines are fundamental to maintaining the academic integrity, transparency, and credibility of JLSS. Authors are strongly encouraged to diligently follow these guidelines to ensure the high ethical standards of the journal are maintained.
